( As on 08/09/2017 14:42) Sensex, Nifty directionless; M&M, Dr. Reddy’s weigh

The Indian benchmarks turned directionless during the noon trading session as it swung between negative and positive zone amid mixed cues from the global peers.



At 14:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 31663.66 up by 0.92 points or by 0 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 9924.75 down by 5.15 points or by 0.05 per cent.



Gains were muted with Sebi imposing an Rs 2,423 crore penalty on PACL and its four directors for illegal fund mobilisation through various schemes that were used by the group to garner over Rs 49,000 crore from the public.



In the choppy trade so-far, Sensex touched intraday high of 31763.7 and intraday low of 31619 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 9963.6 and intraday low of 9915.3.



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1173.15,+4.14%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 403.25,+1.46%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1004.20,+0.87%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1784.50,+0.79%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 272.45,+0.78%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1297.30,-3.10%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 2155.60,-3.07%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 471.50,-1.78%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 2927.95,-1.28%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 208.90,-1.23%), among others.



Among the sectors, CGS index was at 17633.4 up by 305.14 points or by 1.76%. Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1173.15,+4.14%), Finolex Cables Ltd. (Rs. 564.00,+2.34%), AIA Engineering Ltd. (Rs. 1303.00,+0.77%), ABB India Ltd. (Rs. 1346.45,+0.41%), Carborundum Universal Ltd. (Rs. 345.80,+0.30%),.



On the flip side, Realty index was at 2177.88 down by -37.19 points or by -1.68%. Housing Development & Infrastructure Ltd. (Rs. 63.90,-3.33%), Unitech Ltd. (Rs. 7.68,-3.15%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 589.70,-3.11%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 421.00,-1.86%), Indiabulls Real Estate Ltd. (Rs. 240.00,-1.84%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2836 , shares advanced were 1091 while 1600 shares declined and 145 were unchanged.
