The markets ended the week on a muted note, marked by sharp sector rotations and heavy action in derivatives. Here’s a crisp breakdown of what moved Nifty, Bank Nifty, sectors, and global cues this week.

Equity
- Benchmark Index traded volatile in the previous week before closing with 0.06% cut at 26186 level. Banking Index performed in line with the benchmark index as it closed with minor 0.04% gain at 59777 level.
- Among the Nifty constituents, WIPRO and HCLTECH outperformed the benchmark index as they closed with 4.16% and 3.62% gains while INDIGO and MAXHEALTH underperformed as they closed with 9.0% and 5.62% cut respectively. Among the Bank Nifty constituents KOTAKBANK outperformed the benchmark index as it closed with 1.44% gain while PNB underperformed as it closed with 2.24% cut.
- Among sectors, NIFTYIT index outperformed the benchmark index during the previous week as it is closed with 3.47% gain while NIFTYDEFENCE index underperformed as it closed with 2.62% cut. Broader market underperformed the benchmark index as both MIDCAP index and SMALLCAP index closed with 0.73% and 1.80% cut respectively.
- Volatility index (India VIX) closed with 10.79% cut at 10.34 level.
- FII were net sellers as they sold stocks worth Rs 10,404 Cr while DII were net buyers as they bought stocks worth Rs 19,786 Cr during the previous week in the cash segment.
