Indian equity markets witnessed volatility but ended the week on a positive note with Nifty gaining, while Bank Nifty lagged. Here’s a snapshot of key movers, sector trends, and derivatives data shaping market sentiment.

Equity
- Benchmark Index traded volatile in the previous week before closing with 0.97% gain at 24870 level. Banking Index underperformed the benchmark index as it closed with 0.35% cut at 55149 level.
- Among the Nifty constituents, MARUTI and NESTLEIND outperformed the benchmark index as they closed with 10.92% and 6.75% gains while ITC and BEL underperformed as they closed with 3.20% and 2.61% cut respectively. Among the Bank Nifty constituents IDFCFIRSTB outperformed the benchmark index as it closed with 1.32% gain while HDFCBANK underperformed as it closed with 1.33% cut.
- Among sectors, NIFTYAUTO index outperformed the benchmark index during the previous week as it is closed with 5.02% gain while NIFTYPSE index underperformed as it closed with 1.17% cut. Broader market outperformed the benchmark index as both MIDCAP index and SMALLCAP index closed with 1.99% and 2.12% gains respectively.
- Volatility index (India VIX) closed with 5.42% cut at 11.7 level.
- FII were net sellers as they sold stocks worth Rs 1,560 Cr while DII were net buyers as they bought stocks worth Rs 10,388 Cr during the previous week in the cash segment.
- Globally, equity markets traded positive as both US market (DJIA) and European markets (STOXX 600) closed with 1.53% and 1.40% gains respectively.

- Derivatives data for Nifty suggest max OI addition at 25000 call and 24900 put with max OI at 25000 call and 24000 put side (28th Aug expiry). Nifty cumulative PCR closed at 0.73 for Aug 22.
- Derivatives data for Bank-nifty suggest max OI addition at 55500 call and 54000 put with max OI at 57000 for both call and put side (28st Aug expiry). Bank-nifty cumulative PCR closed at 0.59 for Aug 22.
