( As on 15/11/2019 16:44) Post Session: Sensex ends marginally higher; Vodafone Idea up 25%

The benchmark indices settled with mild gains on Friday as last hour selling wiped out most of intraday gains of the benchmark indices on November 15 while Nifty managed to close near 11,900 level.



Sectorally, selling was seen in the auto, energy, IT and metal, while buying witnessed in the bank, pharma and infra sectors.



Overseas, Asian stocks jumped on Friday, lifted by White House comments that suggested the possibility of an imminent trade deal between Washington and Beijing, which revived hopes that their tariff war may be nearing an end. In Asia, MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan gained 0.57 per cent. Japan’s Nikkei added 0.7 per cent and Australian shares gained 0.87 per cent.



Meanwhile, Oil prices edged lower in choppy trade on Friday after an unexpected increase in crude inventories. The downside, however, remained capped by optimism over OPEC supply cuts and positive signals about U.S.-China trade talks.



On the corporate front, shares of L&T Finance Holdings gained 2.6 percent on November 15 on the intimation of stake sale in capital markets subsidiary. Shares of Page Industries gained nearly 5 percent on November 15 after the management maintained its long term margin guidance.



Among others, the share price of PC Jeweller declined 5 percent on November 15 after company's Q2 consolidated net profit down 51.2% at Rs 46.4 crore versus Rs 95 crore, YoY.



The 30-share benchmark index closed trading at 40356.69 up by 70.21 points or by 0.17 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 11895.45 up by 23.35 points or by 0.20 per cent. During the day’s trade, Sensex touched intraday high of 40650.06 and intraday low of 40308.09 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11973.65 and intraday low of 11879.25.



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 393.20,+8.42%), State Bank of India (Rs. 322.00,+5.19%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 78.20,+1.96%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1623.00,+1.60%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 414.90,+1.18%), among others.



Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2542.85,-1.85%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 3188.30,-1.43%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 7147.00,-1.38%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 250.65,-1.30%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 142.10,-1.29%), among others were the losers.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3014 , shares advanced were 1262 while 1568 shares declined and 184 were unchanged.
