( As on 15/10/2019 14:28) Sensex, Nifty extend gains; Bank, FMCG top contributor

Indian benchmarks continued to trade higher during the noon trading session led by a rise in Bank and FMCG stocks. HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Hindustan Unilever and ITC are the top contributors to the rally in the market. On the flip side, Infosys, Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors and Tata Steel are the top drags.



Meanwhile, European stocks climbed to two-week highs, as investors cheered comments from the European Union’s chief Brexit negotiator that a deal with Britain over the terms of their divorce was still possible this week. As per reports from agencies, China has confirmed signing 'Phase One' of the trade deal with the US.



On the corporate front, Prime Focus gained 20 percent intraday on October 15 after the company's UK arm filed for an initial public offering (IPO).



At 14:16 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 38571.37 up by 356.9 points or by 0.93% per cent then NSE Nifty was at 11429.45 up by 88.3 points or by 0.78 per cent.



Sensex touched intraday high of 38573.81 and intraday low of 38238.27 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11439.65 and intraday low of 11342.1.



Among the sectors, Auto index was at 17222.26 up by 376.36 points or by 2.23%. Eicher Motors Ltd. (Rs. 19091.00,+4.26%), Bosch Ltd. (Rs. 13803.00,+3.29%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2695.00,+3.29%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 584.45,+2.81%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 6996.65,+2.60%),.



On the other side, TECk index was at 7495.15 down by -46.38 points or by -0.61%. Just Dial Ltd. (Rs. 580.00,-4.97%), Vodafone Idea Ltd. (Rs. 6.18,-3.29%), Sterlite Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 134.75,-2.46%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 384.05,-2.40%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 768.70,-2.16%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2689 , shares advanced were 1130 while 1375 shares declined and 184 were unchanged.
