Indian benchmark indices continued to trade in positive terrain in afternoon deals on Tuesday, led by buying in realty and IT stocks, tracking firm cues from global peers. Shares of Navneet Education gained as much as 7 per cent BSE after the company said that its board will consider share buyback proposal on August 20, 2018. Among others, Ruchi Soya Industries surged 5 per cent after the company reported a net profit of Rs 22.61 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2018 as compared to net loss of Rs 286.24 crore in the year-ago period.
At 12:26 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 37873.84, up by 228.94 points or by 0.61 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 11429.95, up by 74.2 points or by 0.65 per cent.
During the day’s trade so far, the BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 37876.22 and intraday low of 37689.71, while the NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11432.65 and intraday low of 11370.8.
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 616.95,+1.92%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 376.95,+1.58%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1758.15,+1.46%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 570.70,+1.41%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 329.00,+1.15%), among others.
On the flip side, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 372.45,-1.30%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 366.55,-0.65%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 214.75,-0.60%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1262.15,-0.50%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 165.35,-0.48%), were among top losers on BSE.
On the sectoral front, realty and IT stocks were among top gainers on BSE, rising as much as 1.22 per cent and 1.04 per cent, respectively.
The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was flat. On BSE out of total shares traded 2647, shares advanced were 1232 while 1270 shares declined and 145 were unchanged.
