( As on 24/11/2017 13:57) Rupee down 2 paise against US dollar

The Indian Rupee was trading lower against the US dollar on Friday due to strong demand of American currency by banks and importers and sustained outflows by foreign portfolio investors.

At the Interbank Foreign Exchange Market, the local currency was down by 2 paise at 64.63 per dollar against a previous close of 64.61 per dollar. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 64.75 after opening at 64.61 (at 14:00 hours).

Even firmness in the equity market failed to lift sentiment at the local forex trade. The BSE SENSEX was trading at 33718.41, up by 130.33 points or by 0.39 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 10399.25, up by 50.5 points or by 0.49 per cent.
